The Journey of Dusty Wattle...

Dusty Wattle was established in 2019, during a severe drought on our family run cattle property...

But lets go back to the beginning...I have always been a creative person at heart and I guess you could say I have always been passionate about business. From trying to make a business out of any hobby I had and seeing my parents and my two older brothers work for themselves. It came to no surprise when I wanted to open a business at a young age.

In 2019, our family run cattle property went through a severe drought and I started painting in between helping with the lick runs, checking the cattle and feeding poddy calves. I painted every day during this time and wanted to turn my artwork into wearable art.

At the start the business was like any other hobby I had and for a lot of years it was...In 2021, I attended our first field day with the same passion that started the brand but with a restructured business and new product ranges in the hopes I could turn my passion into a career. And that's when it all changed.

For another two years I juggled studying ATAR in high school and running the business in between it all. When it was time to graduate, I stepped into my business almost full time.

At the start of 2023, I rebranded and changed our business name to Dusty Wattle to fit in with the direction we were going.

Since March 2024, I have been running Dusty Wattle full time.

The brand has changed a lot from when it was first established but still has the same core values...good quality products and to feature my exclusive designs. Dusty Wattle is now a colourful apparel and accessory brand that is proudly size inclusive.

Our warehouse (shipping container for now...) is still located on our family run cattle property.

The journey of Dusty Wattle has been one crazy whirlwind but I could not do it without my parents. My mum, Wendy helps me in all aspects of the brand from deciding what colour fabrics our next release should be to standing by my side at events, being a support to me when I need it and a million other things that happens behind the scenes. My Dad, Richard helps with our event props, setting up our warehouse shelving and other things behind the scenes. It is a running joke that he will have to retire soon to help me pack the orders...

What's next for Dusty Wattle ?

At the start of 2024, I started sketching clothing designs and accessories leading me to source manufactures for these new projects. The last year has seen many failed samples and long manufacturing lead times so we are only starting to see our bulk orders being finalised now.

What does this mean for Dusty Wattle ?

This means at the moment you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. There is so much coming to Dusty Wattle is the next six months.

I am implementing more structure into the business by finally getting our first warehouse set up and getting our processes simplified.

Rapid Fire Question

What is your favourite product ?
Lauren- My favourite product would have to be the workshirts however I feel that my favourite changes almost daily. A lot of time was spent designing these shirts and I absolutely love how they turned out.
Wendy-My favourite product is the bloom sun shirt. I like that you can wear it in the pool as a cover up and not have to worry about sunscreen.
What is your favourite design ?

Lauren - Posey is my all time fav !

Wendy- Posey ! I think the randomness of the design and pops of wattle.

What is your death row meal ?

Lauren- Chicken Parma with veg and mash with mushroom sauce.

Wendy- Roast pork with well cooked roast vegetables, green and gravy. With truffle and ice cream for dessert.

What is your favourite colour ?

Lauren - "Pink, obviously"

Wendy- Blue

What is your favourite part of working at Dusty Wattle ?

Lauren - Designing the products and seeing the vision come to life. Also our amazing community we have supporting us.

Wendy- Seeing people excited to see our products in real life and putting their shopping the bag.
